July 6, 2011 Outage Update

Customer information according to YECL regarding the power outage on the evening of July 6^th 2011.

• Power went off at 8:15 pm
• The first Whitehorse customers had power returned at 8:37 pm
• The last Whitehorse customers to have power returned was at 10:16 pm
• The last YECL customers to be reactivated were in Stewart Crossing and Keno just after 2 am
• Approximately 10,800 customers were affected across the territory

Warning about telemarketing scheme June 1, 2011

Telemarketing scheme targets Yukon Electrical Company Limitied Customers.

A number of Yukon residents have received telephone solicitations from an organization claiming to be affiliated with Yukon Electrical Company Limited.  The callers claim to be with a company called Hydro Power Saver or hydroenergysaver.com.  Customers are being asked to participate in a ‘special deal’ and are being asked to provide personal and financial information.  This telemarketing organization is not affiliated with Yukon Electrical Company Limited and customers are advised to decline any offers and contact Yukon Electrical Company limited or the RCMP with information about the telephone call.

Hot Springs Road Three Phase Upgrade

January 12, 2010.  Yukon Electrical will be upgrading the single phase power line to a three phase power line along Hot Springs Road up to Old Pilot Mountain subdivision.  Please click here for more information.
